A falling Leaf in Texas?

Ryan Leaf, the former No. 2 NFL draft pick often named as the biggest quarterback bust of all time, seemed to have straightened things out as the quarterbacks coach and men's golf coach at Division II West Texas A&M. Until news came out this week that Leaf had been put on administrative leave.

The school wouldn't comment on the reason for the decision, but today police in the Texas Panhandle confirmed they were in the early stages of investigating Leaf for allegedly obtaining a controlled substance by fraudulent means.

Leaf's three-year career after being drafted by the Chargers out of Washington State included 14 touchdowns, 36 interceptions and a 50 quarterback rating.

He was in his third season as quarterbacks coach for a team that is 9-1 heading into its final regular-season game. Here's a little retrospective video on his troubled NFL career:
