Things move slowly around UCLA, and we’re not just talking about the offensive line.

Four months later ....

‘The new goal posts are installed! The new goal posts are installed!’

UCLA has been trying to upgrade the football infrastructure -- with a new coach during the winter, new practice uniforms in the spring and a new quarterback (not by choice) in the summer. And, on Tuesday, the new goal posts finally were installed at Spaulding Field, where the team practices, replacing the woefully outdated uprights.

Of course, the new goal posts arrived at UCLA four months ago, and have been sitting in the storage shed at the practice field until paperwork was completed so the installation could begin. It’s not like UCLA’s kickers can’t use the practice.

And it does beg the bureaucratic question: How long will it take to get Pauley Pavilion remodeled?

Fortunately for the Bruins, offensive coordinator Norm Chow doesn’t have to send plays through any UC committee before sending them down to his quarterback.
