Tony Romo wants to play Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, broken pinkie and all.

That, according to ESPN’s Matt Mosley, who says he’s learned that from a high-ranking team source.

Although Romo didn’t practice today, he threw the ball on the sideline and reportedly had good velocity on his passes. It might have been a call from his boyhood idol, Brett Favre, that convinced Romo to play through the pain.

The Cowboys had been planning on 40-year-old Brad Johnson starting in place of Romo, who suffered the broken pinkie on the first play of overtime in Sunday’s loss at Arizona.
