Talk about a top line. Word went out Saturday that the Pittsburgh Penguins would put Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin on the same line because the team simply wasn’t scoring at even strength.

The Penguins entered Saturday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs having scored one goal at even strength in their last four games. By the end of Sunday’s game against Toronto, the Penguins figured to keep them together forever. Crosby had a goal and three assists while Malkin notched four assists in the 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs.

It didn’t quite work as well tonight. But in the game against the Boston Bruins, Malkin came through in the second extra round of the shootout to lift the Penguins to a 2-1 win.
