October has gone from bad to worse in the O.C.

Martin Hanzal of the Phoenix Coyotes sppeds away with the puck as the Ducks' Kent Huskins gives chase in the first period Sunday.

What's next, another gigantic oil spill off Huntington Beach? A little crack in the reactor at San Onofre? Disneyland gets overrun by mice? Wouldn't you know it, those destructive Santa Ana winds are kicking up again.

Halloween is just a few weeks away, who put the hex on the O.C.?

After the Angels went belly-up against the Red Sox again last week, ending the greatest regular season in franchise history with a thud, I know a few folks around here who were looking forward to the NHL season, just to help kill the pain.

Well, watching the Ducks through the first two games of the regular season has probably been as enjoyable as watching the Dow Jones averages the last week.

The Ducks have managed to lose their first two games by a combined score of 8-3, and they've looked a lot like the Kings in the process. I know, those are fighting words, but it's true.

As I was leaving the Honda Center on Sunday night, I noticed the WWE trucks pulling into the parking lot, getting ready to set up for ''Monday Night Raw.''

With all the bad luck going on around here, they might want to double-check their equipment. You never know what might happen these days.

At least the Ducks have scored 3 goals in their 2 games. The Kings have only potted 1 goal thus far and this from a team whose offense was supposed to be their strongest attribute. Is it too early to panic? Yikes!
