Frankly, I thought colleague and Laker scribe Mike Bresnahan was being a tad paranoid when he blogged about Sun Yue’s mono and said he had worried about getting sick, pointing out, after all, they had shaken hands.

(Of course, I didn’t say that to Mike. Not when he was gracious enough to do all the driving on our scenic road trip to Fresno last week. And certainly not when he could have controlled the musical choices for the seven-plus hours in the car, back and forth.)

Now the joke might be on me.

The Clippers have been ailing. Marcus Camby missed most of the first week of training camp because of the flu. Baron Davis left practice a few minutes early today, trudging off the court with little bounce in his step.

Then came word from Coach Mike Dunleavy: Davis would not be accompanying the team for preseason game No. 2, on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.

Why? Flu-like symptoms.

OK, that settles the issue. I’m getting the first flu shot of my life. Tomorrow.
