Elgin Baylor retires as Clippers GM; Dunleavy takes over
The Elgin Baylor Era is over.
Which means Mike Dunleavy will be the team's general manager, the Clippers coach said Tuesday afternoon.
"Basically, the team came to me just recently and said that Elgin was retiring and they wanted me to assume those duties," Dunleavy said.
Baylor had been the team's vice president of basketball operations since 1986. Neil Olshey, the team's director of player personnel, will be the assistant general manager. Team officials were not available for comment on the details of Baylor's retirement. More details later today on latimes.com.

As a long-time Clippers fan, I say it's about time Elgin is now gone. This should have been done a LONG time ago...more like 15-16 years ago. One thing Donald Sterling should be guilty above all else is that he was incredibly loyal to Elgin Baylor, and the franchise has suffered for it. However, if you've been following the Clippers over the last five years, it's been Mike Dunleavy who's been making the major moves for this team. All this today just makes things more official.
I wish Elgin the best, however...but the Donald should got rid of him a long time ago. The most active offseason in team history just gets better.

How is this news? Dunleavy has been calling the shots for years. Elgin has been a figurehead who they no longer want to pay.
Nothing will change, except Dunealvy's paycheck. I am sure he is due for a raise with the promotion to General Manager.
