A look at how some top NBA draft picks are doing

This is the equivalent of a Broadway opening for NBA draft picks: their first games in the big show.

Not surprisingly, box scores for some of the top NBA picks of 2008 were spotty. All were stars through high school and college, but some started and played big minutes while others made do with ‘garbage time.’

Here’s how some of them fared:

Derrick Rose, Chicago: 32 minutes, 11 points (3 for 9 from the field), 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 4 turnovers.

Michael Beasley, Miami: 26 minutes, 9 points (4 for 14 from the field; 1 for 5 from three-point arc), 4 rebounds, 0 assists, 3 turnovers.

O.J. Mayo, Memphis: 40 minutes, 10 points (5 for 20 from the field; 0 for 7 from three-point arc), 2 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 2 steals.

Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City: 21 minutes, 13 points (4 for 9 from the field), 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 turnovers.

Kevin Love, Minnesota: 18 minutes, 12 points (5 for 8 from the field), 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 personal fouls, 2 blocked shots, 2 turnovers.

Eric Gordon, Clippers: 13 minutes, 2 points (0 for 4 from the field), 2 assists, 1 turnover.

Brook Lopez, New Jersey: 25 minutes, 8 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocked shots, 1 steal.

Jerryd Bayless, Portland: 14 minutes, 3 points (1 for 5 from the field), 2 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 2 fouls.

Robin Lopez, Phoenix: 8 minutes, 3 points, 2 rebounds, 0 assists, 2 personal fouls.

Luc Mbah a Moute, Milwaukee: 26 minutes, 6 points (3 for 7 from the field), 2 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 blocked shot, 2 turnovers.
