Ducks make two more cuts, roster trimmed to 23

The Ducks on Monday assigned left wing Ryan Donally and center Andrew Ebbett to the Iowa Chops of the American Hockey League, leaving the team with the maximum 23 players heading into its season opener Thursday at San Jose.

The current roster, which is still subject to change before the first puck drops, includes forward Brad Larsen, who came to Anaheim in the Sept. 26 trade that sent Mathieu Schneider to Atlanta. Larsen is out for approximately six weeks after undergoing surgery last week to repair a sports hernia.

Here's what the team looks like:

Forwards: Brendan Morrison, Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry, Chris Kunitz, Ryan Getzlaf, George Parros, Brian Sutherby, Ryan Carter, Todd Marchant, Brad May, Samuel Pahlsson, Brad Larsen, Travis Moen, Rob Niedermayer.

Defensemen: Ken Klee, Steve Montador, Nathan McIver, Francois Beauchemin, Chris Pronger, Scott Niedermayer, Kent Huskins.

Goalkeepers: Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Jonas Hiller.

Despite strong training camps from a number of rookies, the two youngest players on the current roster are Perry and Getzlaf, the 23-year-old forwards who are set to anchor the No. 1 scoring line this season.

On the other side of town, the Kings should be releasing a final roster this afternoon. It will be interesting to see how many of their kids make that team.
