Clippers say Baron Davis could return in a week

October 20, 2008 |  5:16 pm

The Clippers said Monday that point guard Baron Davis has a partial tear of a ligament in his left ring finger, but that the injury won't require surgery and that he will wear a splint and can resume playing in a week.

That means Davis could be ready for the Clippers' home opener Oct. 29 against their neighbors down the hall at Staples Center, the Lakers.

Davis was the team's big off-season, free-agent signing. The former Warrior signed a five-year, $65-million deal in July.
