Mosley, Mayorga make weight at Home Depot Center

September 26, 2008 |  8:45 pm

Pomona's "Sugar" Shane Mosley and his Saturday night opponent, Ricardo Mayorga, both weighed in at 153.5 pounds — half a pound shy of the superwelterweight limit — on Friday at the Home Depot Center.

Mayorga, proclaimed as fitter than usual by several fight officials who've seen him, kissed the scale platform, as if relieved that he had made weight, publicist Debbie Caplan said.

Undercard fighters Andre Berto (145.7 pounds) and Steve Forbes (147 pounds) also made the welterweight limit. The bouts will be broadcast Saturday beginning at 7:30 p.m. on HBO.
