College football report: UCLA, USC

September 24, 2008 | 11:47 am

Taylor Mays tackles Virginia Cavaliers receiver Kevin Ogletree in USC's first game of the season.

UCLA is inviting in the enemy and USC's Taylor Mays, among other Trojans, is adjusting to life on the road. That's this morning's early report on local college football.

Read about the marketing plans for UCLA football and decide whether such promotional gimmicks are worth the cost of giving up home-field advantage.

Meanwhile, over at USC, the Trojans will be practicing later this morning before leaving for Corvallis, Ore., and a Thursday night game against the Beavers.

Read how the experience is likely to leave Trojans safety Taylor Mays "smelling different."
