Last call: Manny Ramirez, Angels fans and Pete Sampras

September 29, 2008 | 10:00 pm

Bill Plaschke says no.

Ross Newhan says yes.

What do you think? Should the Dodgers re-sign Manny Ramirez?

By the way, have you noticed that even though both teams are in the playoffs, the Dodgers are generating far more buzz than the Angels? Web hits at latimes.com aren't even close between the two, as the Dodgers get more than twice as many hits as the Angels. If you're an Angels fan out there, explain yourself. Where's the passion?

Random thoughts:

Tennis legend Pete Sampras isn't a big fan of Tina Fey and her impersonation of Sarah Palin. I guess we know who he's voting for in November.

For all you fans of senseless violence, here's a video featuring some of the NFL's hardest hits.

Hey, congratulations to Lisa Guerrero for going two consecutive blog posts without mentioning that she posed for Playboy.

And finally, is this the greatest catch in college football history?

maybe because angel fans live in the oc and inland empire!!

Maybe because the LA media gives the Angels the short end of the stick. Do the Angels ever make the front page of the print edition? No, they're back on Page 3 or 4. And does The Times have a "Red Notes" blog for the Angels? No, only for the Dodgers. Likewise, there's usually about 3 articles about the Dodgers for every one about the Angels. The Times even missed the boat updating the webpage for the Mark Texira trade, but they sure were out in front on the Manny trade.

Angel fans are dissatisfied with the second rate coverage given (I know I am), so they probably go to OCRegister.com instead (Like I do).

And don't even get me started about the local nightly news sports coverage...

Well perhaps the fact that there is a dodger blog but not an Angels blog could have a little to do with it? It like asking why do more women go to ladies night then guys... oh yea.. the ladies get in free... doh.

And nice cheap shot at Lisa Guerrero. The last two articles i read are articulate and show far more writing talent than this sophomoric dribble. Guess the powers that be at the times were either desperate or felt sorry for you.

Hey, I'll volunteer to write the Angels blog. Apparently no journalistic experience (or in this case, writing skill) is required.

You gotta be joking !!! How can you not sign the man ? There's Arod ...Whom has proven that in Arods what 15 years in he MLB that makes nearly 15 World Champions teams who did NOT need him on their squads . Miguel Cabrera , findiing his swing in a new league . Albert who's got "the ring" & the Mad Man ....Or is he ? Manny & the Sox haven't been happy with each other for a while & after Boston broke their " curse " in 2004 then the Manny trades were underway . How happy woould you be ? I know Ramirez's methods were juvenile but he did what he felt he had to , to save himself & it worked out .
I see about 95% of all Dodger games & have made it to the Ravine at least 20 times this year . Just the difference in the fans alone, is a deserving treat to Los Angeles . Before Ramirez got "the blues", LA was booing & had hope that we could win . Now cheers with our expensive beers are our combo & expect to win . No more rolling the dice (on players like Jones ) Manny is a freak that never takes time off or loses his swing . Rolling the dice on this Hall of Famer.... like the odds !!!
No body of course can predict the future ,certainly not Tough Luck Ned but he is the best hitter of our time & a happy Manny is a happy Los Angeles ....

oh god pete, please tell me you'd been drinking...and briget is down with this?....i tried to forget about that little dem-repub commercial that nike breifly aired with you and andre, but this country needs change...don't stick your head in the sand and leave it to who, just the pundits.....not all voters have access to all the key information or opportunity, celebs can help with that.....heck, i lived and died with you for a decde and a half so it won't ruin our relationship, i just hoped for more
