Put on your best dress, baby, and darlin' fix your hair up right... after much speculation Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will indeed perform during halftime of the Super Bowl in February. The news was just announced on NBC during the halftime of the Chicago Bears - Philadelphia Eagles game and posted simultaneously on the NFL.com.

The website proclaims:

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will perform in the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLIII Halftime Show on NBC at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa on Sunday, February 1, the NFL and NBC announced Sunday. The Super Bowl halftime show is annually the most-watched musical performance. More than 148 million viewers in the U.S. watched last year's show. The Super Bowl and halftime show will be broadcast worldwide in more than 230 countries and territories.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band join an esteemed list of recent halftime acts that includes the Rolling Stones, U2, Paul McCartney, Prince and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

The Boss and his band recently completed a 100-night world tour that concluded in Milwaukee on 8/30 in support of the critically acclaimed album "Magic". The success of the tour was bittersweet, for even though Springsteen and E Street played for over 2 million fans, founding member Danny Federici lost a three-year battle with melanoma in April.
