More juror comments
On why some jurors were for acquittal: "Part of it was forensics, part Spector ... and not having his hand on the gun, and not doing the psychological profile." The juror was referring to the county coroner's decision not to do a psychological profile of Lana Clarkson; the defense expert did and said that it indicated she may have been suicidal.

1. yes, not doing the psychological profile, knowing that the results would have favored the defense, is yet another major screwup by the la da's office. cooley and his employees should pay for this screwed up trial and for the retrial, which is unlikely to take place in la county.
2. with respect to judge fidler, while his record on the bench certainly gives him the benefit of some doubt, he will have a lot of explaining to do to the voters about his conduct in this case and in every matter he has ruled on since he has been on the bench.
3. judge fidler's conduct of this trial, especially that changing of the jury instructions, after the jury had deliberated for a long time and announced that it was deadlocked, to push the juors towards a conviction and his rejection of the very reasonable clarifications requested by the defense, was an insult to our system of justice and an unconstitutional invasion of the province of juries, a process that has been going on in la county and in the state for some years, in both criminal and civil cases, financed the corrupt prosecutors, big insurance companies, and other big corporations in an attempt to put an end to those big jury verdicts against them and to make anyone accused by prosecutors guilty by accusation alone.
4. well. filder's fiddling got the effect he desired. he was able to change the decisions of a number of jurors with his tampering. however, 2 brave and courageous jurors refused to be pushed around and justice was done for now.
5. will fidler retire from the bench and get one of those cushy high paying gigs at one of the law firms that represent big business? we have seen this happen with other judges who have chosen the to cooperate with the prosecutors and with big business.
6. the great tragedy is that, compared with the many other judges who rubber stamp whatever the prosecutors want without even looking at the merits of any case at cooley's headquarters, the lax courthouse, judge fidler is one of the better judges on the bench.
7. if anyone wants to see a real horror show, not unlike what went on in the legal systems of the british empire in ireland and in the systems of hitler and stalin and the mullahs in iran, just spend 2 weeks down at the lax courthouse and watch the victims, who cannot afford the unconstitutionally exhorbitant bail amounts or decent attorneys, get hauled into the courtrooms in shackles( obviously, a true indication of their constitutional rights to be presumed innocent), get assigned a public defender and get told by a public defender, who does not want to hear about their innocence, that they should take whatever deal the prosecutor is offering, which is always pleading guilty to a felony, and then get hauled away to our prison systems, which are simply graduate schools for becoming criminals, without ever having had any access to due process of law or any opportunity to tell their side of the story.
if you are curious to know why so many innocent people plead guilty, just make a visit to the la central jail where they are held while their cases are going on and are presumed to be innocent under our laws.
a number of federal judges have taken that tour and been horrified.
in that environment, even the most innocent of cooley's victims ,unable to put up the huge bail amounts ot to hire a decent attorney, would pead guilty just to get transferred out of that hell hole and stay alive.
for those attorneys with the courage and the expertise to become real threats to the crooked prosecutors and the big corporations, the power elite sends the crooked beaurocrats at the california state bar, whom they have bought, after those. take a look at steve yagman. leslie abramson, one of spector's original attorneys in this cases, many others, and myself.
most attorneys, subjected to such baseles attacks in another system in which they have no rights, cave in to protect their families. they really have no choice. others choose to fight on and expose and correct the corruption, no matter what threatsare made or carried out against them.
8. if anyone thinks that such an atrocity could never happen to them, take a look at the case files. ordinary citizens who rent carpet cleaners to clean their carpets or rent cars while their cars are being repaired often, and with no malice, have to keep the carpet cleaners or rental cars longer that they had antcipated.
9. they get letters and telephone calls from the rental companies. they bring the items back and pay off their bills in full, thinking, as they well should, that the matter is resolved, only to get arrested for felonies with no contact from the lapd or anyone at the la da's office and told by public defenders to plead guilty to felonies.
10. how could the california legislature pass such abominable laws? the legislators get paid off by lobbyists hired by big business and by contributions from certain prosecutors. the events portrayed in eddie murphy's movie, the distinguished gentleman, do not take place only in washington dc. they take place in sacramento and in state legislatures all over the us, in varying degrees.
11. pending the projects of my friends and 1 to make all such information transparent to the voters, who can and will put an end to this hijacking of our legal and political systems by some power elites, we are fortunate to have certain federal prosecutors and judges doing what they can, such as making the lapd operate under a federal consent decree and supervision until they clean up their corruption and us district judges awarding substantial damages to some of the poor victims stuck in our state jail systems and issuing injuctions requiring some atrocious conditions and practices to be stopped, which make stalin's gulags look civilized.
the original innocence project in new york and branhes all over the us are getting more and more innocent people out of our jail systems based on incontrovertible dna and other evidence.
12. we also have an attorney general, jerry brown, who has matured since he was governor and and governor who has now been around long enough not to be naieve any more, who will not only refuse to be bought off by the crooked prosecutors and interest groups, but who have the power to, and will, take action against these interest groups who have hijacked the legal and political systems for which we pay, only to get scewed by them.
sure, one of them is a republican and the other a democrat. however, these issues are bipartisan and the only real opposition to cleaning out the rats' nests will be from those that have been profiting from the corruption.
bring them on, out into the open sunlight of the type of full transparency made possible by the wonders of modern technology.
we thank judge fidler for allowing court tv to make a complete film record of this spector trial, since so many other more terrible atrocities go own behind closed doors, with records kept to a minimum and then quickly shredded.
in the larger war against terror going on in this world, we will win over the forces of evil. however, unless we also terminate the corruption in our legal and political systems, the people who have and will die in that war against terror will have died in vain.
our fathers who died or put their lives at risk in ww2 to save our world for democracy and justice are, and would be horrified by what has gone on in the state of california and in la county since the crooked prosecutors and the wealthy special interest groups started hijacking our legal and political systems in the 1980's and 1990's.
