Jurors due back at 9:30 a.m.
Having long passed the less than four hours jurors in the O.J. Simpson trial took to decide to acquit him, the Spector jury returns this morning to resume their work for a fifth day. The jurors begin around 9:30 a.m. each morning and work until 4:00 p.m., with a 1½ hour lunch break and two short breaks -- one in the morning, the other in the afternoon. That leaves them with typically no more than 4½ hours a day to mull over whether Spector shot Clarkson, or whether she pulled the trigger herself.
Neither the attorneys nor Spector have been seen in the courtroom; presumably the lawyers are at work on other matters, and Spector is at home. On verdict watch this week were Vanity Fair writer Dominick Dunne; Spector biographer Mick Brown; Court TV and local media; Spector's twin adopted sons, Louis and Gary; and a few members of the public, leaving the courtroom more than half-empty. The number is expected to dwindle if deliberations stretch into next week.
