Grisly testimony

The grisly nature of defense pathologist Werner Spitz’s expertise was captured in a striking demonstration he provided for jurors to explain how the presence of air in lung cavities is detected at an autopsy.

“When you squeeze the lung -- you don’t squeeze it brutally -- it makes this sound. “

Spitz fixed jurors with a dull stare and slowly, deliberately crumpled an envelope.

The condition is call crepitus, and it shows that air was in the lung, which could only have been introduced by breathing, Spitz testified.

Spitz at one point acknowledged the gruesomeness of his work, referring to an examination of Clarkson lung slides as “a gory sight to see, and it’s a gory thing to describe."

Have you noticed that when "unhelpful" evidence to the prosecutor's case comes into the trial, DA Jackson loses his cool and questions the honesty of the defense expert when not attacking the defense counsel? Have you noticed the defense has not engaged in this boorish behavior? That is evidence that the prosecution knows its case is in trouble! The major problem for the prosecution remains that SCIENCE IS NOT SUPPORTING ITS THEORIES. Justice requires an innocent verdict. The DA has proven only that it has an interesting theory of the case. They have not proven guilt.

JL: Did you ever try to research back to 2003, when he stated I didn't mean to shoot her, back when arrested by Alhambra Police ? Also, when he was taken to the Medical Center?

To JL: Are you kidding? Rosen is the nastiest, snarkiest attorney I've ever heard. He has been very insulting to women who have been victims of violence perpetrated by Phil Spector.

What the defense is trying to do is use the old smoke and mirrors routine - using false information and calling it science in the hopes that the jury won't be bright enough to see through it.

I am a registered nurse, and EVERY doctor I've spoken to about the spinal cord testimony says it is misleading and incorrect. With an injury to her spinal cord like the one Lana Clarkson experienced, she would never have been capable of any gross motor movement like coughing, breathing, legs flying out in front of her, etc.

Dr. Baden's testimony about the partial transection, and Spitz's testimony about chickens and frogs, is just an attempt to confuse the jury. In my opinion it is also unethical.

The overwhelming body of evidence points to Mr. Spector as the shooter.

Dr Spitz preformed an autopsy on my 20 year old son. His findings were highly questionable. He reported conflicting information to me on several occasions, and also made extremely unethical remarks to me, that were in response to times when I questioned him in a professional manner about his findings. I wish that someone would do a story on Dr. Spitz. This is an individual who I believe holds many secrets.
