Friends like these...

Jennifer Hayes, a friend of Lana Clarkson's, testified Clarkson drank excessively and liked to take Vicodin. She said Clarkson broke down at her house shortly after starting her job at the House of Blues. "She was sobbing her eyes out. She did not have kids, she did not have money, she did not have food to eat," Hayes said.

But Hayes also said Clarkson never gave up hope, a contradiction pointed out by prosecutor Pat Dixon during cross examination.

She also made a remarkable statement about Punkin Pie Laughlin, another Clarkson friend to testify for the defense. "Pie has no memory," Hayes said. Hayes testified she accompanied Laughlin to an interview with a defense investigator. Laughlin, she said, needed her help to remind her of events during the interview.

Dixon questioned whether it was appropriate for the defense to interview the women together, which could have tainted their answers. Hayes said the investigator never suggested they be interviewed separately.

Jennifer, if you were such a "good friend" (which it's obvious now you weren't) and you had such a rich, wonderful life, why didn't you offer to help your friend when she needed you?

Next question: How much is Spector paying you to testify?

Finally: do you actually think this is going to help your "career"? I predict people in this town are going to remember how you besmirched the name of a murdered woman and cut you off.

This person is not credible. She sounds a bit jealous of her "so called friend" Lana. She sounds as if she has many personal problems and issues. I think she needs help from her own "memory friend"... The jury will disregard the bulk of her testimony. Wow it amazes me what "high priced" attorneys will drag into court..

Did these "best friends" read the eulogy at her funeral? I don't think they were that close. The director/writer knew her for 8 weeks and they drag him in as a best friend??? Shows me the defense is really reaching and trying to find someone, anyone to throw some dirt on the victim. Jennifer looked to me as if she might hop out of her seat in the witness stand at any moment. Was she nervous, high, overly medicated??
Why bring in the paramedic who DROVE and not the one who actually administrated the morphine....because he and the nurse did not say she was drunk. I also do not see how being drunk at a Christmas party equates to finding a hand gun at the home of a stranger and putting on your coat, purse and head for the door and then kill yourself.

Jennifer Hayes doesn't seem too credible to me though she did score some points for the defense. Hayes made bad choices in her answers and showed bad judgment in life; she advertised that both her kids are in rehab (great mom) and expected a "poor-me" type concession from answering tough questions. I was negatively impressed by the show she made about she has bad luck. She seemed really hostile to admitting anything suggested by the prosecution. She did prove that Clarkson likes her booze and pills and was a pretty shallow person, much like Hayes herself. The camera really highlighed her bad plastic surgery. In short, Hayes is a self-centered vacuous woman, a species that overpopulates the Los Angeles area. She probably drives an SUV.

All these so called "friends" of Lana's who are trashing a murdered woman should go back to their day job - haunting a bog!

Witnesses like Jennifer Hayes drive me nuts. She repeatedly did not answer questions as asked, she added all sorts of comments that went beyond the questions, she clearly had an agenda, and she acted like she was constantly annoyed. If I'm on the jury, I have a hard time getting past her annoying style to hear what was relevant. She clearly is none too bright and it was painful watching her scramble when caught in a contradiction. And even if Lana Clarkson was a shallow, dramatic, wannabee actress down on her luck and prone to drinking too much: so what? This describes thousands of women in L.A. who never shoot themselves through the mouth at the home of a stranger. If Phil gets off, the message is clear: in L.A., if you are a male celebrity with money, you can kill a woman with impunity.

the prosecution would be wise to do some background checking on Jennifer Hayes - they'd find a lot of good stuff, and would completely discredit her in a cross examination. I don't see what she is doing in court while two of her children are in rehab and the third ( very young and illegitimate ) is woefully neglected alone. Maybe someone should check up on some of the restraining orders that have been placed against Jennifer over the last year or so.
