Answering machine
Just before the lunch break, prosecutors in the Phil Spector trial played an answering machine message of the music producer telling his then-girlfriend, "I know it's hard to deal with a loony." The message was left after Spector brandished a revolver at Dorothy Melvin, then followed her down her driveway with a shotgun, according to earlier court testimony. Prosecutors are trying to show actress Lana Clarkson's shooting death was part of Spector's pattern of violent threats against women. The defense has said the women are disgruntled former girlfriends and publicity-seekers. The message was one of six prosecutors played for the jury, five of them apparently left after the July 4, 1993 incident with Melvin. In the last two messages, Spector became belligerent. "I expect a return call, but be careful what you say to me. Nothing you say to me is worth your life." The final message was packed with profanity, and carried an implied threat of a lawsuit: "You will see papers Monday morning," Spector said.

I hardly call "You're going to receive papers Monday morning" an IMPLIED threat.
