Panic on the streets of Hollywood
One of the flashpoints for Grammy weekend's early start last night was Fuse's unofficial bash at new Hollywood club Goa. Featuring a live performance by Panic at the Disco, the cable channel's bash may not have been official, but that didn't stop a massive line from forming in front of the trendy spot. Paparazzi and gawkers packed the sidewalks of Cahuenga, taking in the motley mix of B-listers (Brittany Snow, Simon Rex, etc.) who were escorted inside where Fuse's demographic was not exactly well-represented. Thirtysomething junior execs marveled at the Indian-themed decor and sari-clad female bartenders with exposed midriffs.
Outside on the patio, Panic at the Disco, Las Vegas’ emo saviors, took the stage with minimal fanfare around 11:30 p.m. The band played a short set, including “Nine in the Afternoon” and a decent cover of The Band’s “The Weight.” Paris Hilton seemed to be enjoying Panic’s set from her mezzanine-level perch, and assorted members of Fall Out Boy, POD, One Republic and AFI also looked happy to snack on some free shrimp and catch a relaxed set from the foursome. Or maybe they were just happy they got inside at all.
Regardless, there was considerably less drama at Goa than down the block and around the corner, where actor Jesse Metcalfe received a smackdown in front of Social Hollywood at another unofficial Grammy-related party.
