‘Idol’ vs. ‘The Voice’ live discussion

‘American Idol’ and ‘The Voice’ remain two of the hottest singing shows on television, but how do they compare?

We have asked readers to cast their ballots each week for the top performers -- regardless of show.

So far more that 165,000 votes have been tallied. Although America tried to send Jessica Sanchez home from ‘Idol’ a couple weeks ago, the San Diego native has been a consistent reader favorite. The nearly 46,000 votes cast for her to date add up to three first-place and two second-place finishes among readers.

But our music writers Todd Martens and Chris Barton have yet to even place her in their top five picks this season. (Amy Reiter, who blogs on Show Tracker about both shows, has been a fan, placing Sanchez on her list all five weeks.)
