A couple of things sprang immediately to mind while watching Kia’s ‘Drive the Dream’ ad by David & Goliath. First, Nikki Sixx hasn’t aged well.

And second, the suburbanite star of this spot sure has weird dreams. (And given the placement in the testosterone-heavy Super Bowl, Kia is trying to communicate that this guy’s dreams are Everyman’s dreams, which is even weirder). Scantily clad supermodel Adriana Lima stars with Motley Crue, mixed martial arts tough guy Chuck Liddell, a giant hoagie, a couple of hirsute lumberjacks, professional bull rider Judd Leffew on a bucking rhino and, oh yeah, a car.

Kia had released a 15-second teaser for this ad, showing only Lima waving a checkered flag to the strains of The Chordettes’ “Mr. Sandman,” before launching the full spot. (It played in theaters like AMC and Regal, per a deal with National CineMedia thought to be the first time a Super Bowl commercial had a sneak peek on the big screen).

VIDEO TIMELINE: Best Super Bowl commercials

On Thursday, the marketer went one step further in the new trend of providing extended versions of commercials, behind-the-scenes footage and “director’s cuts” –- there’s a five-hour video of Lima here. Five. Hours.

It’s in super slow motion, and it’s basically the same shot as the 15-second clip. Except, it’s FIVE HOURS. Internet response has been swift and sweaty.

Will anyone recall the 2012 Optima Limited in all this? Or will they just wonder what the heck was in that pixie dust?
