Maksim Chmerkovskiy can sure move his feet — but he might have put them into his mouth one too many times for the folks at ‘Dancing With the Stars.’

The handsome dance king told the Canadian version of ‘Entertainment Tonight’ that he may not be invited back for the upcoming season of hit ABC show, which starts next month.

‘I still don’t know if I’m on the show,’ Chmerkovskiy was quoted as saying. ‘I didn’t get the call yet.’

Chmerkovskiy is ‘Dancing’s’ in-house dark prince, lighthearted enough to have a running gag where he gooses host Tom Bergeron but willful enough to tangle with most of his celebrity partners. Last season, he engaged in an on-air battle with judge Len Goodman. After Goodman noted he had been involved in the dance business for 50 years, a visibly angry Chmerkovskiy shot back: ‘Maybe it’s time to go!’ Asked a few minutes later about the spat by co-host Brooke Burke Charvet, Chmerkovskiy committed a memorable gaffe: ‘With all due respect, this is my show.’

Now Chmerkovskiy is trying the humility route, telling ‘ET,’ ‘It’s not my show’ and expressing appreciation for how the show has enhanced his career.

Whether that will be enough for the ‘Dancing’ producers remains to be seen. An ABC rep did not immediately return an email seeking comment. The network is planning to announce the cast on ‘Good Morning America’ on Tuesday.

What do you think? Should Maks stay or go?
