HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN’S haunting tale of love is told on “Great Performances: The Little Mermaid From San Francisco Ballet” on KOCE at 9 p.m. With Yuan Yuan Tan in the title role.


Chuck and Sarah (Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski) go up against a ruthless spy (Rebecca Romijn) in their quest to take down a dangerous computer virus before it’s too late in this new episode (8 p.m. NBC).

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition:
Ty and the team head to Ohio to help build a home for the tight-knit family of a woman with a brain tumor (8 and 9 p.m. ABC).

A brutal murder in the woods has Nick and Hank (David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby) revisiting a long-ago disappearance in this new episode (9 p.m. NBC).

The Life & Times of Tim:
 The animated series returns for a new season (9 p.m. HBO).

Dateline NBC:  In this new episode of the news magazine series, Lester Holt reports on the mysterious 2005 disappearance of Ray Gricar, a district attorney in Pennsylvania who investigated sex-abuse claims made against Jerry Sandusky in 1998 (10 p.m. NBC).

20/20: This new episode documents efforts to reduce the mortality rate during pregnancy and childbirth (10 p.m. ABC).

Invention USA:  In back-to-back episodes the guys meet an inventor who has sacrificed everything on a device for scraping ceilings and then test an inflatable shelter to help people in natural disasters (10 and 10:30 p.m. History).


Christmas in Washington 2011:
The Band Perry, Justin Bieber, Cee Lo Green, Jennifer Hudson and Victoria Justice take the stage at the National Building Museum for this year’s edition of the annual holiday concert, a must-attend for the president and first lady and other D.C. dignitaries (8 p.m. TNT). 


Christmas in Connecticut:
 A successful lifestyle journalist (Barbara Stanwyck) is lauded by her readers as the sweetest, most efficient homemaker in the countryside. Problem is, she’s a chain-smoking urbanite. Dennis Morgan and S.Z. Sakall co-star in the 1945 romantic comedy (7 p.m. TCM).


The Ducks visit the Chicago Blackhawks (5:30 p.m. FS Prime).
