If you’re not familiar with Chris Hardwick, you probably will be soon: the comedian presents the ‘Nerdist’ podcast and events at Meltdown in West Hollywood; hosts G4’s ‘Web Soup’ and AMC’s ‘Walking Dead’ aftershow, ‘Talking Dead.’ And now BBC America has announced that it is greenlighting five more ‘The Nerdist’ specials.

BBC America tested the waters in July with a pilot of “The Nerdist” featuring Matt Smith, who plays ‘Doctor Who.’ The five additional specials will be spread over the next year. The first is a year-end pop culture and tech review scheduled to premiere Dec. 24. The show is produced by Nerdist Industries and Comcast Entertainment Studios, with Hardwick, Alex Murray, Jay James, Gary Snegaroff and K.P. Anderson serving as executive producers.

(And if you still can’t remember where you’ve seen Hardwick, you could always hark back to the 90s: Before building his ‘Nerdist’ empire, Hardwick hosted MTV’s dating series “Singled Out.”)
