SERIES

Explorer: The new episode “Crime Lords of Tokyo” takes an evocative look at the city’s infamous organized crime syndicate known as the yakuza (6 and 9 p.m. National Geographic).

Kitchen Nightmares: Chef Gordon Ramsay helps a restaurant in Anaheim (8 p.m. Fox).

Supernatural: Sam and Dean (Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles) discover that the Egyptian god Osiris (Faran Tahir) is behind a string of grisly deaths in which the victims were put on trial for past mistakes and executed when Osiris found them guilty. Now he wants to try Dean, who is represented by Sam (9 p.m. KTLA).

Fringe: Walter (John Noble) is forced to leave the lab for the first time in years when Olivia (Anna Torv) uncovers a possible connection to his experiments with the drug Cortexiphan (9 p.m. Fox).

SPECIALS

The Guthrie Theater Presents H.M.S. Pinafore: Joe Dowling directs this new production of the Gilbert & Sullivan operetta. Rainn Wilson hosts the telecast (9 p.m. KOCE).

MOVIES

Dune: David Lynch directed and co-wrote the screenplay adapted from Frank Herbert’s science-fiction cult classic about political and religious machinations on a distant sand world from which comes a rare and highly coveted spice. With Kyle MacLachlan, Francesca Annis, Jurgen Prochnow, Max von Sydow, Linda Hunt, Brad Dourif, Jose Ferrer and Sting. (10 p.m. BBC America).
