Late Night: Anderson Cooper adds Kate Gosselin to 'The RidicuList'

AndersonkateStory
In his years covering the news, Anderson Cooper has witnessed some horrific things: angry mobs in Tahrir Square, post-Katrina New Orleans, earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Yet the pizza-related temper tantrum thrown by reality TV mom Kate Gosselin, whose series "Kate + 8" will finally, mercifully come to an end next week, was enough to shock even a hardened journalist like Cooper and earn her a spot on his "RidicuList."

On Monday's episode, a cross-country road trip turned ugly when babysitter Ashley failed to set aside a slice of pizza for Steve, Gosselin's bodyguard. Predictably, she went ballistic. "Steve wants a piece of pizza right now. You guys can eat salads. Give it to him. He reserved it. Last night," Gosselin shrieked.

Cooper pointed out the obvious absurdity of indulging a grown man as if he were a toddler -- and treating an RV full of kids like inmates. "Middle-aged bodyguards can get pretty cranky if their routine is thrown off: You know, lunch, juice box, binkie nap."

Gosselin lashed out still further when one of the kids handed over the contested slice of pizza with her bare hands (the horror!). "Oh my gosh. That is disgusting!" she grimaced.

The pizza-related hysterics proved to be too much for Ashley, who (wisely) quit.

"It is a cautionary tale," Cooper warned. "If you somehow, against all odds, find a woman who's willing to help you take eight kids on a cross-country road trip, for goodness sake, let her divide the pizza any way she wants."

We couldn't have said it better.
