The legendary comic actor, who had hosted the telethon for 45 years, was dismissed as host and removed as MKDA’s national chairman, a position he had held for nearly 60 years.

The Encore documentary chronicles Lewis’ landmark careeer and features interviews with numerous show business figures, including Jerry Seinfeld, Quentin Tarantino, Alec Baldwin and Chevy Chase.

[For the record, 3 p.m. Sept. 22: An earlier version of this post and the headline said Starz was airing the documentary. It will be shown on Encore.]
