Soap opera fans, perhaps the silver lining in the demise of “All My Children” has revealed itself: ABC announced Monday that Josh Duhamel will make a return to the daytime soap.

OK. We might be grasping at straws with that outlook. But Duhamel will reprise his role as Pine Valley con artist Leo du Pres, who allegedly died in 2003. Du Pres’ body was body was never found, so, naturally, it left the door open for a return to the show that helped spearhead his acting career.

Duhamel was nominated for four Daytime Emmy Awards throughout his time on “All My Children” and won an Emmy for supporting actor in 2002 for his role as Leo. Duhamel went on to star in to star in NBC’s “Las Vegas” and films such as “Transformers” and “Life as We Know It.”

The episode will air in August. Back in April, ABC announced “One Life to Live” and “All My Children” would be coming to an end. “AMC” is set to air its final episode in September.
