About (Late) Last Night: Stephen Colbert steals Jack White's look [Video]
"The Colbert Report" has been celebrating its own skewed version of a summer concert series all week long. Dubbed "StePhest Colbechella '011," (try saying that five times fast) the pseudo-festival has included appearances by bands like Bon Iver and Florence and the Machine, as well as a three-part visit to Jack White's studios in Nashville.
Thursday night, the week of rock culminated with the debut of Colbert's new single, "Charlene II (I'm Over You)." It just so happens that White produced the single, and that The Black Belles, an all-girl group on his record label, play back-up on the track. (Devoted Colbert fans will no doubt already know that "Charlene II" is a sequel to his 2006 song, "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You").
"The Colbert Report" went behind-the-scenes at the photo shoot for the single cover, where the former White Stripes frontman offered Colbert some style advice. "Think about loosening up a little," he suggested. "How about darker clothes?"
Colbert reappeared in a bright red T-shirt and pants, paired with white accessories -- White's signature look.
"No, no, I don't think so," White responded, barely able to suppress his laughter.
"It must be like looking in a sexy mirror," Colbert said. If you ask me, he does look pretty good in red.
What do you think?
