This is the time of year when TV executives face tough decisions about the futures of some TV shows.

Each network has ordered up to 25 new comedy and drama pilots, a few of which will wind up as new series on the fall schedule. That means some existing shows -- i.e., the ones with marginal ratings -- are about to get tossed overboard. In the TV business, these are known as ‘bubble shows.’

What kind of shows are we talking about? Well, let’s put it this way. If you never miss an episode of ABC’s ‘No Ordinary Family,’ guess what? Your Tuesday nights might open up really soon.
