Fall TV season: Fox unveils 2011-12 schedule featuring Cowell’s ‘X Factor’ and Spielberg’s ‘Terra Nova’

The Fox network, home to ‘American Idol’ and ‘Glee,’ announced its new fall schedule Monday morning, which includes ‘The X Factor,’ a new musical talent show from Simon Cowell, and ‘Terra Nova,’ an oft-delayed science-fiction drama whose executive producers include Steven Spielberg.

Among the shows gone from the schedule are dramas ‘Lie to Me,’ ‘Human Target,’ ‘The Chicago Code’ and midseason comedy ‘Breaking In.’

The network also scheduled a handful of shows for midseason including ‘Alcatraz’ from J.J. Abrams set in the legendary prision and an animated version of the cult hit movie ‘Napoleon Dynamite.’

Long time staple ‘America’s Most Wanted’ is also heading into the sunset. There will be a couple of specials, but otherwise that Saturday time slot will be used for reruns of other shows.
