ABC loads up on drama with 'Good Christian Belles,' other pickups [Updated]
ABC is getting a little holy, adding seven dramas, including "Good Christian Belles" -- formerly "Good Christian Bitches" -- and "Charlie's Angels" to its lineup.
The Darren Star-produced "Good Christian," starring Kristin Chenoweth and Leslie Bibb, had spurred controversy among religious groups and others for using the b-word in the title.
The revamped "Angels" is a modern take on the '70s series and will star Minka Kelly ("Friday Night Lights").
Said to be joining the ABC roster are the dramas "Pan Am," a soap set in the 1960s about pilots and stewardesses (don't be surprised if some live a double life as spies); "The Scandal," about a crisis-management consultant; the fantasy drama "Once Upon a Time"; "Revenge," which focuses on a woman who moves to the Hamptons; and the adventure drama "The River."
New comedies will include "Apartment 23," "Man Up," "Suburgatory," "Work It," and Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing."
Getting canned are the sci-fi drama "V" and "Brothers and Sisters."
[Updated at 4:45 p.m. May 13: Additionally, freshman series "Detroit 1-8-7," "Mr. Sunshine," "Off the Map" and "No Ordinary Family" have gotten the ax. Newbies "Happy Endings" and "Body of Proof," meanwhile, will return for another season.]
The network is slated to unveil its complete lineup to advertisers on Tuesday in New York.
