Trump on the 'Today' show: I'm with the 'tea party'

Trump Donald Trump appeared on the "Today" show on Thursday morning to talk to Meredith Vieira in another stop on his media blitz tour, and this time, he discussed his possible presidential run, aligned himself with the "tea party," disputed Obama's birth certificate and created quite a stir on Twitter, quickly becoming one of the big trending topics there. As Vieira quipped, "He's certainly not a shrinking violet."

Asked if he considered himself part of tea party, Trump said, "I think so. I'm very proud of some of the ideas they put forth. They want to stop this ridiculous, absolutely killer spending that's going on. What's going on in this country — the way we're spending money like drunken sailors — we are absolutely, we're going to destroy our own freedom."

He also continued to quibble with Obama's birth certificate, suggesting that Obama may have been born in Kenya: "I'm starting to think that he was not born here. ... I have people that actually have been studying this [in Hawaii], and they cannot believe what they're finding. I would like to have him show his birth certificate, and can I be honest with you? I hope he can, because if he can't and if he wasn't born in this country ... then he has pulled one of the great cons in the history of politics and beyond."

Vieira wondered whether, if he were president, he'd keep a military presence in Iraq. "I would absolutely, without question, not leave that section of that country," he said. "I would take the oil. To the victor belong the spoils. You know, in the old days, you'd have a war. And you'd be in there. And you'd win. And you'd take over the country. Whether it’s oil or gold or whatever."

What does he think, generally, about this great country? "I love this country," he told Vieira. "But this country is going to hell."

Vieira said that Trump said if and when he officially announced his presidential run, it would be on the "Today" show. Until then, we'll keep up with his Trump-isms right here on Showtracker.

Golf course manager with delusions of grandeur is rather pathetic in the allies he co-ops

Go Donald Go Donald, everyone with a brain will vote for you!!Thank you for the fresh air it was so stale with the lousy one sided democratic party ass kisser newsmedia we have it is worse than it was in communist USSR

Why is it considered stupidity for Mr Trump to consider running for president? Hey, we have had one former movie star, why not a finance guru?
When Mr Trump made statements about our country paying for the Mid Eastern countries to build schools and roads, just to have them blow them up; but we cannot build roads, bridges, schools in our own country? We cannot even keep our own federal government running??? Where is the common sense in the US subsidizing people that absolutely hate us??
If Hillary would run, I would vote for her. If Donald runs I will vote for him. Only one drawback for a voter from KY, as a registered independent I cannot vote in any primary.
We have had career politician after politician, let us try someone who IS NOT a career politician. Hey, it cannot get any worse. At least Mr Trump has the gumption to stand up to the BIG HEADS in congress. You know, Mr Trump reminds me of Andrew Jackson. He has my vote!

Great idea, Donnie! Let's steal the oil we "won" in an ill-conceived and immoral war based on lies. Why would we think that might further enrage the Muslim world against us, create an army of new jihadis and ultimately prolong and exacerbate the ruinous war on terror? What a total dimwit.

Get it right, Donnie. Advocate the closing of our military bases around the world, our disentanglement from foreign alliances and foreign aid, and return to a rational, nationalist self interest. Control the stinking borders. Cut income taxes on individuals and make the corporations pay their share. These things will prove y0u a truer advocate for fiscal restraint and essential liberty than any birther nonsense or chest thumping war spoils idiocy. You look like a clown.

Anyone who takes Trump's foolish ideas seriously should put down the remote and pick up a few books. He is right that we are marching toward hell. Sadly, his presidency sounds like it would be a flat out sprint in the same direction.

The one thing he has going for him is his own fortune to spend. Should he use it, he could at least be free from the grapples of corporate and other special interests. This of course will only help America if he suddenly found himself educated in rationality.

Oh brother! Talk about a huckster.

Bill Cosby's reaction to Trump's interview on the Today Show was even better than Trump's interview:

If it's only $12 why don't you buy the records.

America needs this card..."Trump"! I have admired Donald Trumps business sense since I was fresh out of college. He is right all across the board. When his Hotels were failing he picked himself up by the dress-shoes, turned around and made more money than he ever did before. The Golf courses, brilliant.
I have read many of his books, he is blantently honest as well as knowing his politics inside and out! He could tame his ego a little bit, but not too much, for then he wouldn't be the Donald. Like I said, America needs this card, "Trump"!
There's a slogan for you, Mr. Trump. God Bless the U.S.A. and you for caring.
Kristy Schweinfurth

I can't believe people don't see that Donald Trump is brilliant. Obama is the only threat to Donald Trump if he runs. Donalt Trump is going after Obama's Birth Certificate because if Obama wans't born in this country, he will be taken from power. Donald Trump would win the presidential election.

And the teabaggers just got a little more laughable.

In any case, Trump has provided a useful service by publicizing the important issue of Obama's unresolved eligibility issue. Regardless of the outcome of the eligibility issue, one fact is incontrovertible: an army of journalists have been trained by university journalism programs to disregard ethics, resulting in a deliberate effort by the mainstream press to cover up a major constitutional controversy. CNN continues to publish outright lies, claiming that the "birth certificate" (long form) has been produced, which is untrue, and further claiming that the issue is a "rumor" (rather than being based on documentary facts) and that the problem has been definitively resolved (when it hasn't). These actions by the mainstream press are a major threat to US security. When journalists become this corrupt and frearful of losing their jobs should they refuse to participate in the cover up the result is dictatorship (controlled at the top by financial interests). Bob Woodward is a Republican who exposed a Republican's corruption; this is REAL journalism.

Trump WILL become the next United States president. He is a perfectly reasonable and logical individual that believes in his country and will be there to back it up and turn it back into the great country that it once was before the Democratic party.

Donald Trump A circus clown for a GOP Presidential candidate , may be that is all they can muster up, especially if they donot know the very basic tenents of constitution . Shame it is for natural born American citizens. Tea Partiers if they tea party so much may be they should head back to queen mother ,may be she might take them back.
