This just in: Oprah won't be helping to save soap operas [Video]

April 22, 2011 | 12:10 pm

Oprah Winfrey filmed a video to soap opera devotees that were hoping her golden touch would help save their beloved soaps.

Unfortunately, while she "understands" soap viewers' disappointment at the demise of their favorite daytime dramas, Winfrey says it's a matter of numbers — or lack thereof.

"I will not be taking on the responsibility of trying to revive an instituon that for all intent and all purpose indicates that that time has come for it to be over," she says in the video. "So thank you for believing I could save them, but I really can't."

Way to surrender, Oprah.

Fans of the recently canned "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" have been flooding the inboxes of just about everyone these days, including advertisers, hoping their pleas will be heard.

Here's more from O.
