THAT’S THE TICKET:
The former “Saturday Night Live” cast member hosts “Jon Lovitz Presents” a roundup of stand-up, at 9 p.m. on Showtime.

SERIES

Doctor Who: The venerable science fiction series is reincarnated for a new season (6 and 9 p.m. BBC America).

Wedding Cakes: Food Network celebrates the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton with two nights of cake-themed programming, starting with an episode of “Challenge” in which pastry chefs compete to create a show-stopping wedding cake (8 p.m.) A second episode follows at 9 and a wedding-themed “Cupcake Wars” airs at 10.

Parking Wars: In the first of two new episodes, an impatient mother and son cut to the front of the line at the Philly impound lot, and as you might expect, the result isn’t pretty (10 p.m. A&E). In a second new episode, a driver speeds off with a boot attached (10:30).

Cats 101: The new episode “Kittens” has plenty of information, from how to choose the right feline addition for your family (10 p.m. Animal Planet).

MOVIES

Gunga Din: This 1939 tale set in British-ruled India is a rollicking adventure with an unforgettable ending. An Indian water bearer (Sam Jaffe) befriends three British sergeants (Cary Grant, Victor McLaglen, Douglas Fairbanks Jr.) and helps them fight a bloody cult bent on mass destruction (5 p.m. TCM).

The Ten Commandments: Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner and Anne Baxter star in director Cecil B. DeMille’s 1956 biblical epic about the life of Moses (7 p.m. ABC).

Hockey: NHL playoffs: The Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Pittsburgh Penguins (9 a.m. VS); the Montreal Canadiens visit the Boston Bruins (4 p.m. VS); the Kings visit the San Jose Sharks (7:30 p.m. FS Prime; VS).

Baseball: The Dodgers visit the Chicago Cubs (10 a.m. KCAL); (1 p.m. Fox); the Boston Red Sox visit the Angels (6 p.m. FSN).

Basketball: NBA playoffs: The Chicago Bulls visit the Indiana Pacers (11:30 a.m. TNT); the Dallas Mavericks visit the Portland Trail Blazers (2 p.m. TNT); the San Antonio Spurs visit the Memphis Grizzlies (4:30 p.m. ESPN); the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the Denver Nuggets (7 p.m. ESPN).
