NBC's 'The Voice' recruits Reba McEntire, Monica and others
NBC's "The Voice" is adding power to its vocal range.
The network announced Friday that country singer Reba McEntire, R&B singer Monica, singer/songwriter Sia Furler and music producer Adam Blackstone will join the music competition series as advisors to coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green once the show enters the "battles" competition phase, which will span four episodes. During this period, contestants from each team do a duet and the weakest one is eliminated.
Aguilera will partner with Sia, Levine with Maroon 5 music director Blackstone, Shelton with McEntire and Green with Monica. The advisors will help to select songs and provide performance advice.
"The Voice" debuted Tuesday to big ratings, averaging 11.8 million viewers and a 5.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic. An encore of the series didn't do too shabby either, garnering 6 million viewers on Wednesday.
"The Voice" continues its blind auditions on Tuesday.

It took about two minutes to realize this is, and will be, by far the best singing competition yet. It was easy to see that a format excluding one's appearance is really the best way to judge the contestants' voices, and so far the talent is really great. Some wonderful singers will be eliminated early, but the winner will be super great. I can really say of the first week's singers, I loved at least 9 of the twelve selected. And what can one say about these coaches? That opening rendition of "Crazy" was great and I will download that as soon as it is available.
