Larry King is returning to TV interviewing - for two nights, at least.

In an unusual host-and-guest switch this Thursday and Friday, King, who retired from CNN last year, will interview Tavis Smiley on Smiley’s own PBS show.

The occasion will mark the first interview King has conducted since leaving CNN, although he has appeared as a guest on other programs since - most notably to reminisce after his friend Elizabeth Taylor died recently.

‘Tavis Smiley’ typically features the host questioning celebrities and noted figures in various professions, but this will be the first time he has been interviewed on his own program.

‘Larry King was an inspiration for me when I started my own late-night talk show eight years ago,’ Smiley said in a statement. ‘One of the highlights of my broadcast career was the opportunity to periodically guest host for Larry King on CNN. It is an honor to now have him interview me on my program.’
