Is Miranda Cosgrove too cool for school?
Demi Lovato may be leaving her hit TV show, but Miranda Cosgrove is sticking with hers ... for now.
Though the Nickelodeon sensation has been accepted to New York University and USC, according to the NY Post, the campus tours and syllabi notes will have to wait. Cosgrove, 17, is delaying her freshman year to stay in L.A. and film a fifth -- and maybe final -- season of “iCarly."
"She can’t start in the fall due to her 'iCarly' production schedule but she is really excited to go to college and plans to, she just isn’t sure exactly when she will start," her media rep told ShowTracker.
Why, oh why, Miranda? After all that college talk! Cosgrove previously told Seventeen magazine, “My ultimate dream is to go to the University of Southern California for two years and then New York University for two years.”
Here we thought cardinal and gold would go perfect with her skin tone.
The actress also reportedly applied to Yale University, UC Berkeley and Brown University, which is where Emma Watson (“Harry Potter”) is a student.
ShowTrackers, do you think this is a smart move? Will it set the wrong example to her young viewers?

A post-secondary education is important, especially in today's society and our economic situation. But I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's a "bad message" to send kids to delay going to college if a lucrative career present's itself. The operative phrase here is "delay", rather than "abandon". I mean, it says she's applied to various universities in this article, even. It makes more sense to maintain a well-paying, secure job while you have it, instead of leaving to pursue other goals IF you have the opportunity to do both by simply reshuffling your schedule a little.
Cosgrove is a talented young actress, and her show entertains both kids and college students like myself, which is not an easy thing to do. I think it's safe to say that she'll be fairly safe in her current career path, and even if not, she certainly seems like she's smart enough to make decent decisions about an education. The schools she's applied to, from what I hear (I'm Canadian so I can't speak first-hand) are highly reputable, so I'd say she's serious about continuing her education.

She's 17. She won't get to be a teenager for much longer. It's fine for her to defer for one year if that's really all it will end up being.

Miranda Cosgrove is certainly not a bad example for children in any way. Miranda plans to go to college, which is OUTSTANDING for a starlet. Miranda is sticking with iCarly, also a fantastic move. Fans would be dissapointed in her if she just dropped out of her show suddenly. She would let millions down. Most high schoolers do not go to college until they are 18 anyway, Miranda is 17. Would you rather her be a Miley Cyrus? I think not.
