About (Late) Last Night: David Letterman calls Donald Trump 'racist' [Video]
On Thursday night, Dr. Phil stopped by "The Late Show" to promote his talk show, but David Letterman had only one thing on his mind: Donald Trump.
Apparently, Dr. Phil is friends with the incendiary real estate tycoon, and Letterman asked what he thought of Trump's recent behavior. Dr. Phil tried to laugh it off, joking that maybe Trump was hoping to convert the White House into a condo. Letterman, who clearly had a bee in his bonnet, wasn't having it.
"It's all fun, it's all a circus, it's all a rodeo, until it starts to smack of racism. And then it's no longer fun," he said. Letterman was particularly troubled by Trump's latest line of inquiry -- how President Obama managed to transfer into Columbia, then gain acceptance at Harvard Law School. (For what it's worth, Trump also transferred into an Ivy League school, the University of Pennsylvania.)
Letterman asked Dr. Phil, point-blank, "Do you consider him to be a racist?"
"I do not," he replied.
"Well how can you say things like that if you're not a racist?"
"I don't think he always thinks everything through," Dr. Phil said in a bit of an understatement. "I think sometimes he's a little from the hip. I don't think he has a racist bone in this body."
Letterman was not so ready to forgive. "If he comes back on this show, and I'm not sure we want him back under those circumstances, but he ought to be prepared to apologize just for that kind of behavior."
Trump has always been a divisive and easily ridiculed figure, but this week, he seems to have reached a new low. Will "The Donald" become a pariah?

I'd like to see TRUMP'S birth certificate. It probably mentions the SILVER SPOON in his fat mouth at the time of birth. Trump might be a better businessman than I thought. He "gets" that his only chance at public office would be in letting Black-baiters (similar to Jew-baiters) know that he's on their side. No little bird whispered in Trump's ear that Obama was born overseas. Back here on Earth, we know that if he'd been born in another country, there'd be a paper trail--an application for a green card, visa...something. And someone, somewhere would go for the bucks -- selling the story of what they know to a tabloid or a network. People like Trump make this country look foolish. I wish Nostradamus had predicted when we'll be free of such clowns.

I actually don't believe Trump is a bigot (He probably imagines everyone. equally inferior to him) What he is, is worse. He's sizing up the climate and culture of the American voter (or at least a significant segment) and has made the judgment call that that he can win over the xenophobic, the paranoid, and the petulant. His platform has been cynical and disingenuous.
Anyone who would vote him, or favors him over *any single incumbent holding any branch in office* is an idiot. I don't feel bad about saying this. I don't worry about insulting his supporters, because I don't think his supporters have the capacity to be insulted. Because Tea Party members of the world...HE'S saying you're racist, backwater nutjobs. He's capitalizing on damning hysteria, because he thinks you're into that kind of thing. He's doing it to curry favor for ends that may not even be political, but publicity for his insipid television program.
There are two kinds of people in this world; Those who think Trump is, at best, a self-aggrandizing windbag who doesn't intend to do any good should he actually run for office. And then there are those who are so mad with hatred for Obama that they would vote the Situation in for office if he could come up with the right rhetoric.

All the liberal media bashing of Donald Trump is only succeeding in getting the majority of people that believe Trump has a real message really pissed off and determined to go grass roots and campaign for him.
These rich liberals don't have a clue "It"s all fun". Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of people struggling to make ends meet because our politicians have sold out our country and are too politically correct to tell it like it is and do something about it.
All of these celebrities bashing Trump are living the comfortable life so their opinions mean nothing!!!
Trump is not a racist, he is someone who is putting his money where his mouth is to make an effort to bring prosperity back to America. He actually LOVES OUR COUNTRY.
You would think the biased media were not American because they don't seem to care what happens here. Our country is being sucked dry from everybody else taking advantage of it. The biased media think they are so smart and any time anyone disagrees with them it's a "fringe movement" or racists.
I would like to see some patriotism from the media. Their lack of demonstrating it is inspiring hatred for them absolutely!
Most people have nothing against Obama, he is just not doing a good job and we can't afford 4 more years of the same old stuff. Nothing to do with race. The guy is African American/ Caucasian if anyone making their accusations remembers.
The media's bashing is going to backfire at the polls.
Trump is full of himself (super confident- does not show weakness-good trait for a president to show other countries who are taking advantage of us), people make fun of his hair (so trivial) but he is one of the only people who has a really good shot at bringing this country back and he is willing to work for the American people and get elected at his own expense to get this done.
Every day the United States is becoming more and more impoverished. All the rich and comfortable liberals and celebrities have the "let them eat cake" mentality because they go home to their mansions and servants.
When in history has the S&P considered downgrading America before? Never!
This is a critical time in history and I and many others that are enthusiastic about someone who can actually make a major difference know the seriousness of this while a lot of other people are busy throwing racism accusations and school yard tactics to divert us.
It is not going to work. period!
Incidentally, Trump was good friends with Michael Jackson and is one of the only people who defended him, professed his innocence because he and his children knew him personally and openly said he was his friend during the time in Michael's life that heaps of lies and false allegations were being thrust upon him by low lifes (and the liberal media coincidentally).

Some of you don't get it. Just because Trump knows black people, has black people on his show, and hired Kwame on The Apprentice does not mean he believes in equalility and fair access to education for black Americans. Donald Trump is racist. I've known this for a long time and stopped watching his show years ago. he clearly said in disgust on Howard Sterns show that he would never let his daughter date someone black (it's not what he said it is the WAY he said it). His company was investigated for housing discrimination against blacks and now he is questioning President Obama's education and essentially is saying how the hell did he get in to an Ivy league without help? The President can't be THAT smart, right?
We all know Trump aka Dump is only beefing up publicity for his lame show. Lastly, know he wants to speak on behalf of the middle class? Get the eph outta here. Now.

i dont believe he his a racist, i believe Trump is tryin to get people who are racists and who do not like obama on his side; i also believe that obama is really tryin and for a few people who came on here sayin that he hasnt done anything i truly believe he has done more and shown more empathy for our country than the last president. Letterman is a jerk. First he requires staffers to sleep with them to get promoted. Next, he makes dirty jokes about Palin's underage children. And now he circles the liberal wagon around the failed community organizing Obama. Of COURSE Obama got into Harvard (and Columbia) due to affirmative action. Is Letterman that utterly IGNORANT about the reality of those programs in the 1980's? The race card is passe. Letterman is a jackload. He should be cancelled and forced to live with that wife that he constantly cheated on. Maybe he'd gain some weight then and stop looking like such a pencil necked scarecrow.

I think that Trump should "chill out" with downing the President of the United States. I'm mean who really goes as far as Trump has, with campaigns to get a birth certificate. Trump is as stupid as the other Americans that think President Obama would be in office if, he was not qualified and a natural born citizen.
