‘The Vampire Diaries’: Stefan and Damon need your help

When “The Vampire Diaries” finally returns with new episodes April 7 on The CW, the No. 1 priority will be keeping Elena (Nina Dobrev) safe from Klaus (Joseph Morgan). Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will both take up that duty to keep the girl they love safe. But naturally, Stefan and Damon “will find themselves going up against each other and becoming increasingly more at odds about method,” executive producer Julie Plec tells Showtracker. While they butt heads, they need our help keeping an eye out for Elena, according to these new “Vampire Diaries” videos. If you view the videos on the show’s official Facebook page, you might even get a personalized greeting in which Damon and Stefan say your name. (Alas, mine turned out to be too complicated.)

“Speaking of Isobel, I wonder what she’s doing back in town?” Damon wonders. “Crafty gal, that one. With Katherine out of the tomb, we need all the help we can get.”

Sounds like they’re going to get it. “Isobel and John are going to have a parental sit-down with Elena expressing that they have an agenda that they believe will keep her protected,” teases Plec. But of course, Elena doesn’t have the best relationship with her birth parents, so she’ll have “to decide whether or not either of them can be trusted.”

Showtrackers, what do you make of these videos? Is the trailer a hint that the gang might hit the road in an effort to protect Elena? Is it just a reminder of what happened to Jules’ werewolf pack? Was it just a convenient backdrop, and I’m reading too much into it?
