Michael Chabon is back to his favorite hobby: fighting Nazis. The author and his writer wife, Ayelet Waldman, are teaming up for the first time on ‘Hobgoblin,’ an HBO project-in-development that, according to Variety, ‘revolves around a motley group of conmen and magicians who use their skills at deception to battle Hitler and his forces during WWII.’

Those characters will be in good company. With books such as ‘The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay,’ and ‘The Yiddish Policemen’s Union,’ Chabon has spent a lifetime trying to defeat Third Reich sympathizers. And with Nazi-fighting heroes like Wonder Woman making a comeback on TV, the small screen is a good place for him to wage his latest battle.

This project is developing just in time, too. Because anti-Semitism seems to be having a moment, we’d love for Chabon’s magicians to dream bigger. Maybe they can make Julian Assange, John Galliano and Charlie Sheen disappear?
