George Lopez apologizes for making pig joke about Kirstie Alley
George Lopez has apologized for referring to Kirstie Alley as a pig.
"I misjudged the joke," the host of TBS' "Lopez Tonight" tweeted Thursday. "No malice was intended and I apologize to Kirstie."
On his Tuesday show, Lopez offered a recap of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" premiere. He showed a clip of Alley -- the former "Fat Actress" star who's publicly battled weight problems -- and then joked: "She did a nice job, her little hooves tapping away. Before the show she went to the market, and then she had roast beef, and this is her going all the way home." This was followed by a clip of a squealing pig from a recent Geico spot.
The joke was sharply criticized by several women's groups, who felt it sent a bad message when Alley has been open about her weight problems.
Alley herself seemed unfazed by the controversy, tweeting Thursday: "Don't worry about George's comments... just remember what happens to the big bad, drunk woolf...falls in a boiling pot of vodka. Piggy laughs." No word on whether she accepted Lopez's apology.
Lopez is the latest comic to have apologized after ruffling cultural sensitivites. Gilbert Gottfried was recently dumped as the voice of the Aflac insurance duck after joking about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.
Show Trackers, was Lopez right to apologize, or are critics just being too sensitive?

Mean spirited humor is not funny to me.

George Lopez is a PIG! With no heart, and that is insulting to a pig to call him one of them.

I agree, with Beth. Take a look in the mirror.

Apology!!!! REALLY!!!! There shouldn't have been one to begin with. Kristie Alley, 60 years old!!! Got out there and danced her heart out and did an excellent job. George can you do that? You have no right degrading anyone like that. Sorry just doesn't cover it.
You were very humble when you needed a kidney transplant, did anyone make jokes about that. NO!!!
I know that making fun of people is your job just try to make better choices.

I'm all for making a joke, the less pc, the better in my book, but this just wasn't funny, particularly since Mr. Lopez has many physical attributes that aren't really admirable. An ugly, tubby dude making a fat joke about a gorgeous and way funnier actress (seriously, is there even compariosn between the george lopez show and cheers?)? I don't feel sorry for Kirstie, i feel sorry for Lopez. Fat jokes about snooki are funny, fat jokes about kirstie alley are cheap, classless and desperate.

ITS A JOKE PEOPLE --- and George Lopez certainly isn't the first person to make fun of Kirstie Alley's weight. SHE was the first. This country is so uptight. Get over it!

A Pork Rind calling someone a pig. Ha! We got the joke alright, but apparently he didn't get that it was about him!
His house must be mirror-less.

I appaulled that he would even go there. Mr. Lopez, maybe you should take a good look in the mirror. I happen to think Kirstie Alley looks FANTASTIC. DWTS will do he well. And yes you should be ashamed of yourself for even treating another human like that. Have you been watching the news lately about all the bullying? Then you go and do this. wow, I would think twice about watching your show. Wait... I don't

I agree Beth! George Lopez is a waste of space... besides, he is one ugly guy!

I feel very sorry for George Lopez...he has no heart or sensitivity. Imagine what it must be like living life as a man who engages in cruel sport at the expense of an aging woman. Pathetic.

A comedian that makes his living doing stand-up and telling jokes on his late night talk show offended someone? Stop the presses! Get over it folks. Whether you liked the joke or not it's what comedians do.

Too sensitive! Kirstie Alley has made money of her weight gains and losses. Does anyone really think Lopez's comments hurt her feelings?

George,
Try to remember that "Real Women Have Curves". Dang, you must have gone nuts during the making of that movie if your comment toward Kirstie is any indication of your real feelings toward larger women.

You people are too sensitive over a joke he obviously didn't mean to hurt someone's feelings. Are you that insecure about yourselves that you have to poke holes at a man that has probably laughed at himself in the mirror more than he has at anyone else, goes out to prove you gotta laugh at yourself sometimes, doesn't even OFFEND the girl, and STILL gets blamed? Jesus Christ, how idiotic do you have to be to take offense from something neither racist nor sexist, not even aimed at you?
Leave the trolling to the professionals and go watch 'Bambi' or something. I'm sure you'll find all your happy magical fairy dust in there or 'Peter Pan.'

George how low can you go,I guess all the way to the gutter with all the other bad wolves....Anyone that could even consider that this joke was in good taste must have a bad taste in their mouth. Big bad wolves think all big and beautiful girls were put on this earth for them to poke fun at....Once a bully always a bully......George I am very disappointed in you,I would never expect this remark from a real man, even a comedian......

on TBS's website for Lopez they feature a perfectly round bottom of a skinny woman putting a pie in Lopez's face, they feature her bottom right at the camera, Lopez thinks he is good looking and has to surround himself with only skinny women, you could park an eighteen wheeler up each of his nostrils, what the hell's wrong with him being so insulting to a gorgeous and talented woman like Kirstie, also he divorced his wife after she gave him one her kidneys, he's the one who squeals all the way home
