Who wants to date a Ken doll? Now he has his own reality show, hosted by Whitney Port.

Next month is the 50th birthday of the Ken doll, and Mattel Inc.’s celebrating with a reality show on Hulu called ‘Genuine Ken: The Search for the Great American Boyfriend.’

On the show -- hosted by Whitney Port of ‘The City’ -- eight real-life, squeaky-clean ‘Ken-testants’ will compete to be worthy of Barbie. TV production company Hudsun Media pitched the program as something like ‘The Bachelor,’ and Mattel saw it as an opportunity to make Ken a little less of a stiff.

‘What we realized a few years ago was, ‘Wait a second, there are people having more fun with the brand than we were,’’ Stephanie Cota, Mattel’s senior vice president of global marketing for girls’ brands, told the L.A. Times. ‘Part of the journey that we’ve been on is figuring out how to have fun with the Barbie brand without making fun [of it].’
