Socialites, NBA wives and a ‘seer’: Welcome to ‘The Real Housewives of Miami’

Bravo announced Thursday that its “Real Housewives” franchise is adding yet another city’s worth of socialites and divas to its lineup. This time: Miami.
The “Real Housewives of Miami” premieres at 10 p.m. Feb. 22, and it promises to include all the signatures of the franchise: cattiness, fashion shows, delusions of grandeur and a secondary character who can potentially steal the show (in this instance, a mother of a housewife who says she’s a “seer” — not a psychic).
The cast includes:
Lea Black, a Texan married to a top criminal defense attorney and mother of a 9-year-old son, is involved in charities and was a fundraiser for Barack Obama.
Marysol Patton, described by Bravo as “one of Miami’s most sought-after women both socially and professionally,” runs her own public relations firm. Her mother, Elsa, is the character with the potential to steal the show, herself a hot commodity to celebrities looking for advice.
Adriana DeMoura-Sidi, an art curator, has just come out of a difficult divorce, and she’s already engaged to a man named Fredric. It appears the flirtatious and fiery Brazilian is a gossip-making machine among the housewives.
Alexia Echevarria, the executive editor of Venue magazine, sees herself as a spotter of trends and up-and-comers on the Latin celebrity scene.
Cristy Rice is a Miami native, recently divorced from NBA player Glen Rice. She’s embracing the single life while also being a single mom of three and running her own clothing store.
Larsa Pippen, the wife of NBA superstar Scottie Pippen, embraces her unofficial title of the “hottest NBA wife,” a title she had shared with Cristy Rice. According to Bravo: “When she’s not busy turning her three little boys into star athletes, shopping for her 1-year-old princess or firing nannies, Larsa is happy to spend a little time on herself.”
It sounds like these women will fit right in with the “Housewives” family.
