The Vampire Diaries: Stefan (Paul Wesley) tells Elena (Nina Dobrev) about a dark time in his past and a surprising person in this new episode (8 p.m. KTLA). 

American Idol: The Hollywood round continues in this new episode (8 p.m. Fox). 

Perfect Couples: When Dave (Kyle Bornheimer) becomes obsessed with gender roles after attending “Mad Men” party, Julia (Christine Woods) tries to make him feel more like a man in this new episode (8:30 p.m. NBC). 

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: Justin Bieber reprises his guest role as a troubled teen who calls Nick (George Eads) to warn him of danger in this new episode (9 p.m. CBS). 

Grey's Anatomy: Hoping to prove that she's a viable candidate for chief resident, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) volunteers to run the ER for a night and quickly learns that virtually anything can happen there in the course of only an hour in this new episode (9 p.m. ABC). 

Man vs. Wild: The season premiere explores the challenge to survive in Arizona's scorching deserts and freezing mountains (9 p.m. Discovery). 

Royal Pains: After she abandons her stressful lifestyle for what she hopes will be a more laid-back vibe in the Hamptons, Hank's (Mark Feuerstein) newest patient starts to worry she may never learn to relax, but Hank soon learns that a medical condition is to blame (9 p.m. USA). 

30 Rock: Jack (Alec Baldwin) has trouble negotiating his nanny's salary in this new episode (10 p.m. NBC). 

Out of the Wild: Venezuela: In this new series, nine people are dropped in Venezuela's wilderness and must find civilization (10 p.m. Discovery). 


College basketball: Minnesota at Penn State (4 p.m. ESPN); Washington State at Arizona (5:30 p.m. FS Prime); UCLA at Stanford (7:30 p.m. FSN).
