FROG: Kiernan Shipka stars in the new romantic fantasy “Smooch” as a girl obsessed with fairy tales who becomes convinced that an Englishman (Simon Kassianides) she meets in a park is actually a frog prince, at 9 and 11 p.m. on Hallmark.

SERIES

Kidnap & Rescue: A businessman falls victim to a psychopathic taxi driver in this new episode (10 p.m. Discovery).

Saturday Night Live: Former regular Dana Carvey returns to host with musical guest Linkin Park. (11:29 p.m. NBC).

Billy Gardell: Halftime: Gardell (“Mike and Molly” ) travels to his hometown of Pittsburgh for a return to his stand-up roots, as he delivers comic rants about childhood relationships, technology overload and parenting, and the stress of dealing with a midlife crisis (9 p.m. Comedy Central).

MOVIES

Stand and Deliver: This 1987 drama tells the uplifting story of Jaime Escalante (Edward James Olmos), Los Angeles high-school math teacher (5 p.m. TCM).

Gandhi: This 1982 film garnered eight Academy Awards, including the prize for best picture, on its way to becoming one of the most respected films of all time. Director Richard Attenborough tells the incredible story of Mahatma Gandhi (Ben Kingsley), who led India to independence (7 p.m. TCM).

A Single Man: Colin Firth earned bountiful critical acclaim and an Oscar nomination for director-screenwriter (and fashion world veteran) Tom Ford’s drama, based on the Christopher Isherwood novel about a college professor facing life without his suddenly deceased partner (Matthew Goode). Julianne Moore also stars in this 2009 drama (9 p.m. Showtime).
