The Bridge on the River Kwai: Alec Guinness stars as a British colonel leading fellow prisoners of war in building a railroad bridge for the Japanese, while an American escapee (William Holden) returns to destroy it. Jack Hawkins and Sessue Hayakawa costar in director David Lean’s classic 1957 version of the Pierre Boulle novel (7 p.m. TCM).
Still Bill: Rare live performances highlight this portrait of Bill Withers, the singer-songwriter who walked away from stardom 25 years ago in his 40s, yet whose songs — which include “Lean on Me,” “Lovely Day,” “Just the Two of Us,” “Use Me” and “Ain’t No Sunshine” — remain popular today (8:30 p.m. Showtime).
