CBS' 'Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior' with Forest Whitaker hunts down strong ratings in premiere

Forestwhitaker Looks like CBS' new procedural "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" has profiled a solid start for itself.

The natural question was whether the "Criminal Minds" franchise would prove worthy of spinoff, a la the more-popular "NCIS." But Wednesday night any doubt was answered with a 10 p.m. time slot victory for "Suspect Behavior," which stars Forest Whitaker as FBI profiler Sam Cooper. The premiere
(12.9 million total viewers) easily swept past NBC's "Law & Order: SVU" (7.2 million) and ABC's "Off the Map" (4.3 million), according to the Nielsen Co.

For CBS, "Suspect Behavior" delivered its best numbers in the time slot in more than a year. And it held on to 99% of the 9 p.m. audience from the original "Criminal Minds," which is a sign of strong viewer interest.

Fox's "American Idol" -- with a two-hour drama-filled episode devoted to the singers dividing into groups -- dominated the night with an impressive 22.8 million average viewers.

I wonder if people know that a majority of the original Criminal Minds fans only watched out of curiosity. From most of the reviews I have read, viewers didn't enjoy it much.

I didnt like it either! I agree with the fist commment. Many Criminal Minds fans watched this series out of curosity. The people in this spin off seem to have 0 passion and 0 on stage presense.. it is no where near the first one, watch and see how the ratings drop the next time it airs!

when Janeane Garofalo is no longer on this show then I will watch it again.

I looked forward to Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior... what a great cast. Unfortunately when I saw that Janeane Garofalo was part of that cast I quickly switched over to a different channel. I have seen and heard her vitriolic rants and lies against people in this country who do not share HER opinions and because of that I will not watch this particular CBS show.

I must agree with the recent comments. I, too, watched out of curiousity. I really like Criminal Minds, but did not care for this one. AND then, when I saw Garafalo, I was especially put off. I too will NOT watch her. I cannot stomach her rants!!

I give the show a 2.5 stars out of 5. it was really fast and didnt compare to original. a thing that was wierd is that Garcia(Not sure her real name) was in the show. However her character was way off. ill give the show a couple weeks then make a definent decision.

It was terrible! I watched because it came on right after the original Criminal Minds~but that wont happen again! What is Penelope doing on there??

I very much enjoy Criminal Minds. When I saw this new spin off I was looking forward to it. Once I realized that Garafalo was in it. I was put off. I refuse to support this mean spirited, hate filled woman!!

I DVRed it and started watching it this afternoon. I got about 15 minutes in and deleted it. BORING! Can't compare to the original!

The CM spin off was awful. The previews looked good so I thought it would be a good match for the original. I was so wrong.

I am a huge fan of the original Criminal Minds and was really excited to watch the spinoff...too bad it was AWFUL! The characters are boring, Forest Whitaker is such a hammy, over actor and the show itself was slow and painful. So happy to see Garcia there but without Morgan she seemed off. So sad because the show had such potential. I guarantee you that the ratings next week will be waaaaay down.

Same. I watched out of curiosity but hate that women with black hair i guess kknow i know her name is garofalo annoying. Terrible cast! Terrible i did not like them in general. I dont understand how Jj comes out! Whom is perfect! And they bri g this people!,,,,

So are all these Garofalo haters posting below the same person? Hmmm. I think so.

I find it weird that people would watch or not watch a show on the personal lives or beliefs of its actors. The argument of 'I don't like so and so therefore I won't watch" makes little sense because one has nothing to do with the other. The show is in it's as initial phases - the development of characters is in progress. I agree with someone who said they will watch a few more weeks and decide. I will too. And as far as actors go, this group has the potential to bring forth some acting strength. I'll wait it out and see.

The majority of the people who are posting on here seemed to want the replica of the original show. Newsflash - that's impossible. The original stands on it's own; it's not (or ever has been)well reviewed my critics but is LOVED by it's fans. You can't really touch the original because as fans we will protect it. Having said that, it's important to note that the new cast WON'T be the same - and that's the point. It shouldn't be the same. It deals with new lives, new characters with the SAME formula (of solving crimes). I liked the difference and the potential he new team has. And will continue watching.

I will not watch and I will tell all of my friends to not watch as well. Garofalo is too left wing and too opinated and should not be rewarded by the left with a starring position. We the right are entitled to our opinion and are sick and tired of being told what is right and what is right. Get her off the show!!!!!!

I liked it somewhat. I liked the team better when they first appeared on Criminal Minds. Maybe because that was without Janeane Garofolo did not appear. Did not care for her "morally outraged" character-too close to what she is like in real life.

Hmmm. Seven out of 18 commenters were Garofalo haters. Way too many to be a coincidence. Ever hear of the army of sockpuppets, with sophisticated "persona management" software that allows a small team of only a few people to appear to be many. There's also Anonymous, the hacking group. I think we may be seeing them in action here. Oh, BTW, both groups are right-wingers.

This was not a good show at all. I watched it thinking it was be good like the tv show Criminal Minds. It was a waste of my time. The show was all over the place and it made the actors look as if they were stupid instead of smart. What a shame.
