President Obama’s State of The Union Address Draws Smaller Audience

More than 43 million viewers tuned in to President Obama’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, down notably from his previous live scheduled addresses.

The address was carried live on all the broadcast networks and several cable stations, including CNN, Fox News Channel and MSNBC.

Viewership for Tuesday’s address was down 18% from his address to the joint sessions of Congress on Feb. 24, 2009, and down 11% from his State of the Union address on Jan. 27, 2009. Those speeches attracted more than 52 million viewers and 48 million viewers, respectively.
